Both performances were to benefit two AIDS related charities.
  12. Nora CharlesNick & Nora [Original, Musical] Dec 8, 1991 - Dec 15, 1991
One of Broadway's biggest flops ever, this production brought Joanna and her current husband, Chris Sarandon, together (sort of - they actually met before production began, but that's the story everyone likes to tell, so why not?).

  20. The Real Thing [Original, Play, Drama] [Replacement Performer]            Jan 5, 1984 - May 12, 1985. Research indicates that Joanna was the understudy for both the Glenn Close and Christine Baranski roles and later took over the Baranski part. But I would like to have some further support for this.

  28. On a Clear Day You Can See Forever - With Robert Goulet. June 24 to August 9, 1980.
Movie (screen):
  1. The Rebound (2009) as Roberta - Unreleased in USA
  2. The Women (2008) as Barbara Delacorte.
  3. My Sassy Girl (2008) as Kitty/Aunt Sally.
  4. Sex and the City: The Movie (2008) as a Therapist.
  5. Girl in the Park (2007) as Sarah Graczyk - Unreleased
  6. The Pleasure of Your Company (2006) aka Wedding Days (US Release, DVD Title, Jan 15, 2008), as Lois. This hilarious film is directed and written by Michael Ian Black and also stars Jason Biggs and Isla Fisher.
  7. Wild Blue Yonder (by Robert Young) starring Lauren Bacall, Sir Ian Holm, Alan Bates, and Max Beesley. It was shot in Ireland in 2004 I think, but I have VERY few details about its even existance. This could be a "wrong listing"
  8. Fathers and Sons (2004) as Silvia
  9. The Wedding Planner (2001) as Mrs. Kitty Donolly
  10. Let the Devil Wear Black (1999) as Dr. Rona Harvey.
Although Chris, her husband, also appears in this movie, neither appears on screen together. This is really just a small Joanna role.
  11. Road Ends (1997) as Armacost - aka Safe House (UK: DVD title)
Another Joanna/Chris movie. Joanna has several scenes this time and they are covered well in the gallery here.
  12. American Perfekt (1997) as Shirley
While not a big role, she was with her husband Chris. I love her role in this film - the town's drunken whore. Always a classic.
  13. Boogie Nights (1997) as Dirk's mother
Another smaller role, but being in a famous movie never hurt anyone. I can often reference her short screen time in this film alone to tell people who Joanna is.
  14. Edie & Pen (1997) as Maude
... aka Desert Gamble (UK: TV title)
  15. Mr. Holland's Opus (1995) as Gertrude Lang (clarinet player) as an adult
While this was a short role for her, I found it interesting as she played the grown up character played by Alicia Witt. If you're a fan of Witt maybe Joanna is who Alicia will grow up to be like in real life.
  16. F/X2 (1991) as Liz Kennedy, Assistant DA.
... aka F/X 2: The Deadly Art of Illusion
Not a huge role for her, but I loved how she turned out to be the super villan at the end.
  17. Crimes and Misdemeanors (1989) as Wendy Stern.
In Joanna's second Woody Allen movie she played the role of Woody's wife. The two aren't happily married and at one point we learn that their last trist was April 22 - Hitler's birthday. Joanna also appears opposite Alan Alda.
  18. Heartburn (1986) as Diana
  19. Hannah and Her Sisters (1986) as Carol.
This was Joanna's first Woody Allen movie, she would do one more 3 years later.
TV (series):
  1. "Bette" (2000) as Connie Randolph
  2. "Oh Baby" (1998-2000) as Charlotte.
    Joanna's co-star was Cynthia Stevenson.
  3. "Temporarily Yours" (1997) as Joan Silver (1997)
  4. "Love & War" (1992-1995) as Nadine Berkus.
Joanna was very popular as the former house-wife turned waitress as her husband, Charles, was away in prison and her children were leaving the nest. Joanna also got to direct a little with this show.
  5. "Personal Side" (198?) host of this cable-TV talk show on which she interviewed 13 actresses.
  6. "Hello, Larry" (1979) as Morgan Winslow (1979-1980)
TV (Pilots, Not Picked Up):
  1. "Eli Stone" (2007) - ABC - as Lenore Stone. This show was picked up and began running on ABC in January of 2008, however Joanna was replaced by Pamela Reed for the run of the show on TV. Joanna's appearance in the un-aired pilot can be found on the internet and I hope to have screen captures to share soon as well.
  2. "Great Day" (1983) - CBS - as Jennifer Simpson
  3. "Why Us?" (August 21, 1981) - NBC - as Geri Sanborn
TV (movies):
  1. If These Walls Could Talk (1996) Julia (segment "1974")
  2. For the Love of Aaron (1994) Shirley
  3. Born Too Soon (1993) Annemarie
  4. For Richer, for Poorer (1992) Irene
  5. The Boys (April, 1991) Marie.
While never released in the US on VHS or DVD this movie brought Joanna togethe with James Woods and John Lithgow. Joanna and John would later be in the original cast for Broadway's hit Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. This title is also known as The Guys.
  6. Into the Woods (1991) (PBS) Baker's wife
  7. Life Under Water (1989)
  8. Still the Beaver (1983) Kimberly.
Here Joanna appears in a Leave it to Beaver runion show where she plays the Beaver's wife. Interesting note, Jerry Mathers (The Beaver) shares his birthday, June 2, with Joanna, but he is two years older.
  9. Why Us? (1981) Geri Sanborn.
This reunited Joanna and former Hello, Larry co-star Kim Richards. You may know of Kim from Escape to Witch Mountain or as Paris Hilton's aunt.
TV (appearance):
  1. "The Unusuals" playing Estelle Shraeger in pilot episode, 2009.
  2. "The Good Wife" playing Judge Carmella Romano in episode "Bang" March 2, 2010.

  5. "The Apprentice - Martha Stewart". Joanna appeared with John Lithgow as themselves to help the contestants create celebrity experiences to be auctioned to benefit Broadway Barks. Not a big appearance, but a great prime-time appearance. October 26, 2005 NBC (re-ran on CNBC on the 27th). Photo available here.
  6. Host: "WABC Fall Broadway Preview" October 22, 2005.
  7. "Broadway Backstage: Fall Preview" host. In this show Joanna is a friend of Michael Gross' character who discovers the sun is burning out and uses Earth's final hours to make up for lost time. FYI - Michael Gross is a train fan, just like the admin of this site.
  34. "ER" playing "Iris" in episode: "The Match Game" (episode # 2.17) 28 March 1996
I find these appearances on ER to be funny because Joanna played a love interest of Dr. Green. Well, a few seasons later Dr. Green needed brain surgery, and who showed up to perform the role of the surgeon? Joanna's real life husband Chris Sarandon.
  35. "Tracey Takes On..." playing "LeAnne the Stewardess" in episode: "Family" (episode # 1.5) 21 February 1996
  36. "Bosom Buddies" playing "Faith" in episode: "What Price Glory?" (episode # 1.5) 1 January 1981 - I'm not sure that this is her here - it kind of looks like her, but really doesn't seem like a role she'd do: no lines, hardly any screen time. Does anyone have any confirmation one way or the other on this one?
